Repsol YPF is an international oil company, engaged in all activities within the hydrocarbon sector. These include the exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas, the transport of oil products, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and natural gas, oil refining, the production of a wide range of petrochemicals, and marketing of oil products and derivatives, petrochemicals, liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas.
Repsol YPF explores and produces in several countries in Latin America, Northern Africa, the North Sea, and the Middle and Far East.
As part of its strategy to expand in Latin America, and with the intention of strengthening its presence in the area as an integrated energy company, in June 1999, Repsol acquired 97.5% of YPF, the largest private oil and gas company in Latin America.
