Description
Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo is the largest Polish oil and gas exploration and production company. It is a leader in natural gas segments in Poland that are trade, distribution, oil and gas exploration and production as well as gas storage and processing.
The company is also the largest importer of natural gas to Poland. In 2005 the company purchased abroad total 9.7 bcm of natural gas. The company sold in total 13.6 bcm of natural gas mainly on the domestic market. The company is also exporting domestically produced oil and small volumes of high-methane natural gas.
PGNiG is the only Polish onshore oil and gas exploration and production company.
Six gas distribution companies comprising, among all, the PGNiG Capital Group supply with natural gas over 6 million individual customers and small and medium business. Geophysical, exploration, drilling, construction and engineering design companies offer highly specialized services domestically and abroad. Most of them hold international certificates confirming the highest quality standards. A lot of them also gained an international recognition offering their services as sub or joint-contractors.
The parent company PGNiG holds stakes in 56 companies comprising the PGNiG Capital Group.
PGNiG group is at the same time one of the largest employers in Poland with over 30 thousand people working for the group.
