Description
Matra Petroleum plc is focussed on building a substantial oil and gas portfolio in Central Europe. Matra (formerly Ming Resources) was listed on AIM in 2005 (AIM: MTA) but became active as an independent oil and gas exploration company in April 2006 with the acquisition of a 100% operated interest in the Inke Concession in Hungary.
Matra is actively exploring the Inke Concession and reviewing new opportunities for investment in Hungary and in the other countries of Central Europe.
In the Russian Federation, Matra Petroleum acquired the Arkhangelovskoe Exploration Licence which is in close proximity to existing production near Orenburg, in March 2007.
Central Europe provides significant opportunities in a proven oil and gas producing province in an increasingly open, stable and attractive commercial environment. The dependence upon oil and gas imports from Eastern Europe has heightened the need for Central European Countries to develop domestic resources.
