The UK Oil & Gas Industry has a history of success in hydrocarbon exploration and production stretching back over three decades, in one of the world’s most inhospitable environments. It is recognised around the world as a developer and user of cutting edge technology, best practices and high standards in management, operations, health & safety and the environment. As the Industry’s experience and expertise has grown, a network of educational and training providers has gradually grown up around the companies working in the North Sea.

As a natural development of this, the expertise and experience of the North Sea workforce has become very much in demand by an industry worldwide and former UK based personnel are now to be found working across the globe. As part of this migratory process, the demand for the quality and excellence of UK providers’ courses, training centres and distance learning methods has grown substantially.

IESTA (International Energy, Skills & Training Alliance) is a not-for-profit company forming an alliance established by a group of Scottish universities, further education colleges & private sector training providers to act as a 'one-stop-shop' for the provision of training requirements where an integrated approach is needed. IESTA’s formation was assisted and supported by Scottish Enterprise.
