Det norske oljeselskap ASA is an independent E & P company focused on exploration and development of petroleum resources on the Norwegian Shelf. Det norske oljeselskap is headquartered in Trondheim with offices in Oslo, Harstad and Stavanger.
In October 2007, the Board of Directors of Pertra ASA "Pertra" (renamed Det norske oljeselskap ASA), Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA "NOIL" (renamed NOIL Energy ASA), and DNO ASA (renamed DNO International ASA) resolved to execute a combination of Pertra and NOIL. Effective as of 19 November 2007, the new company name of Pertra ASA was "Det norske oljeselskap ASA", or abbreviated "Det norske". The change of name was resolved in the Extraordinary General Meeting held 8 November 2007 and indicates that Det norske oljeselskap ASA is now a company comprising Pertra ASA and DNO's Norwegian operations (NOIL Energy ASA).
