Canadian Oil Sands provides a pure investment opportunity in the oil sands through its 36.74 per cent interest in the Syncrude Project. Syncrude is a leader in Canada’s oil sands industry, operating since 1978 with a productive capacity of 350,000 barrels per day of light, high-quality crude oil.

As the largest owner of Syncrude, we are proud to have a legacy asset that epitomizes the best attributes of an oil sands investment: high quality leases; a track record of successful operations; a sustainable approach to the development of our long-life resource; and product – high-quality, sweet crude oil – that is essential to the global economy.

We enhance the value of our Syncrude asset through prudent financial management, experienced operations stewardship and in-house marketing expertise.

Following our conversion from a trust to a corporation, our approach to managing our business remains the same.

We did, however, take the opportunity to update our brand.

We are directly invested in the development of Canada's oil sands, a strategic resource securing Canada's energy future.

The oil sands represent 97% of Canada's oil reserves and today accounts for more than half of Canadian oil production. The Syncrude project is one of the largest operations in the oil sands with billions of barrels of undeveloped resource. Syncrude's motto is "Securing Canada's Energy Future".

As the largest owner of Syncrude, we are working to provide Canadians with energy and economic benefits, while meeting their expectations for responsible environmental stewardship. Syncrude is an oil sands pioneer, with a long history of advancing the technologies behind oil sands production and improving environmental performance.

Our new logo, comprised of oil droplets arranged to form a stylized maple leaf, and the tagline "Invested in Our Energy Future", reflects our pride in developing this valuable resource in a responsible manner on behalf of all Canadians. We believe Canada's oil sands are a national treasure.
