Description
Austral Pacific's mission is to explore for, develop and produce oil and natural gas. Its main focus is in the Taranaki Basin. Other areas of operation are Canterbury and onshore East Cape in New Zealand, Northwest Shelf Australia, and onshore Papua New Guinea.
Austral Pacific seeks to maintain around 30% equity in its permits, and is the joint venture operator on behalf of all the participants for the majority of its permits.
In addition to their oil discovery potential at shallower levels, it is considered that several of Austral Pacific's Taranaki permits have considerable deep gas potential.
The existing Kahili and Cheal fields are presently moving towards production; and other new discoveries will be similarly developed for production as they are made.
The Company remains focussed in the Pacific rim (New Zealand, Australia and Papua New Guinea), and primarily in the Taranaki region of New Zealand.
